Libraries of Hope
The Libraries of Hope site has created an exhaustive list of living books and enrichment resources for learning using the Charlotte Mason approach, arranged by topic and three levels of learning: elementary, middle school and high school. A homeschooling grandma, the author, "personally selected and previewed the thousands of books and other resources you will find linked in the online library." Families can search by category, including American History, World History, Biography, Nature and "other". The author also includes a "Mother's University" for the ongoing education and edification of teaching parents. Almost everything on the site is free, and much of it is taken from older books. More modern books, films and activities are recommended as well. Families can also follow a 12 month rotation. This is a treasure trove of resources.

Quick One-Stop Resource
The folks over at NeoK12 have put together what they call, "...the best collection of educational videos, quizzes, games, diagrams and puzzles that kids love. All videos, lessons and games have bee screened by K-12 teachers. They are arranged by subject matter and topic. THough there are many more fabulous resources out there, this is a great place to go to when you have little to no planning time and need a quick, reviewed, resource.

Picture
Netflix Academy
This collection of resources, (with no legal ties to Netflix) is a bit inaptly named as it houses links to video offerings from Amazon, Hulu, youTube, along with Netflix. At this time, in late 2014, the offerings are a bit thin, but growing. They seem to be carefully culled to be appropriate for the whole family. I expect, as this is a new site, that the offerings will continue to grow over time. As with the site just below, these providers change their offerings very often, and no list on the internet is able to keep up with it perfectly, so expect to find some dead links.

Picture
GVS Free Courses
Georgia Virtual School has made a variety of its online courses available through open educational resources and teacher created materials. Complete courses are hosted there which require the instructor to lead discussions and evaluate work with the rubrics supplied. Science courses require offline suggested labs.  Lots of technology pieces such as videos and interactive activities are imbedded in the courses. Also, printable offline assignments are included. TESTS and answer keys ARE NOT included.

Homeschooling with Netflix

Picture
A Facebook group called "Homeschooling with Netflix" has provided a PDF document with an extensive list of videos, listed by academic topic . It can be saved to your computer or printed out. For regular updates, anyone can join the Facebook page, but the administrators review and approve new members to make sure they are not spammers..  Netflix is constantly changing their offerings, so any listing of their movies can be out of date very quickly.

Easy Peasy

Picture
Easy Peasy is one mom's Herculean effort to create a homeschool website that had all of her children's assignments online, "... so that they can work independently and so  that I have the assignments saved for their younger siblings. Grade levels and courses include 180 days of homeschool lessons and assignments. It  covers reading, writing, grammar, spelling, vocabulary, math, history/social  studies/geography, science, Bible, computer, music, art, PE/health, and logic. This is designed for Christian homeschoolers, but many of the materials/links are secular.  It uses only free materials found on the internet." (www.easypeasy.com) While most educators will pick and choose from her offerings, it is an amazing collection...and meaty too. Every course is laid out will daily assignments, all materials are online, and it is all FREE!
